Job Description:

  • Support Stress Lead in the requirements definition, architecture development and specifications definition for air vehicle primary structure, system structures and mechanisms.
  • Perform static strength, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis of the vehicle that results in the definition of updates to the vehicle wings, fuselage, empennage and subsystems.
  • Stress support for the integration of structures and mechanisms with all other subsystems and components of the vehicle.
  • Support the development of the operations, maintenance and logistics philosophies for the system.
  • Participates as a member of the technical team in the establishment of development processes for the vehicle.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate departments to develop and maintain a development plan that supports organizational needs.
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with technologies used in the design and development of the structures and mechanisms.
  • Ensure development adheres to applicable standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Related Field with 10 years of applicable experience.
  • Extensive history with structural design and analysis of composite aircraft.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), structures optimization, loads calculations.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of composite structure design and analysis.
  • Proficiency with MCS Nastran and Catia v5.
  • Proficiency with hand calculations and closed form solutions using commercially available documentation (Bruhn, Niu etc).
  • Ability to perform analysis with minimal analytical tools.
  • Ability to document analysis in a clear and logical manner to satisfy airworthiness authorities.
  • History of performing aircraft modifications approved by airworthiness authorities.
  • Experience in allowable development and justification.
  • Knowledge of major industry and regulatory standards and design criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Related Field and 15 years of applicable experience.
  • Familiarity with Part 23 certification requirements.
  • Knowledge and ability to execute stress analysis tasks.
